Violence in  a Relationship is Never Justified

Granite State RESPECT Week

About Granite State RESPECT Week:

Granite State RESPECT Week is a teen-centered campaign that took place in high schools across New Hampshire during Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month. This initiative was made possible by HopeLine by Verizon, a Verizon Wireless Program working to end domestic violence through various initiatives, including funding projects that support victims and survivors of domestic violence and prioritize prevention.

The structure of this project is similar to a high school spirit week in that each day has a unique theme that ties into the greater message of teen dating violence awareness. Granite State RESPECT Week is based off of an initiative that was originally developed by
loveisrespect.org in an effort to engage, educate and empower young people during Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month. NHCADSV and its 13 member programs have adopted this initiative and tailored it to meet the needs of New Hampshire schools.

It was our hope that with the support of NHCADSV and local crisis center educators, New Hampshire high schools would adopt this initiative to promote healthy relationships and foster communities of respect in schools across NH. Granite State RESPECT Week was designed to empower schools and students to customize this project to reflect the needs and capacity of their school and community. There were no minimum or maximum requirements for school participation.

Goals of Granite State RESPECT Week:

  • Raise awareness about teen dating violence
  • Connect teens to support services
  • Promote healthy relationships
  • Foster a culture of respect in New Hampshire high schools
