May 4 - HB 1634 Bill Signing

This Tuesday May 4th at 1:00 Governor John Lynch will sign HB 1634 into law. This is an important step toward protecting victims of domestic violence throughout New Hampshire. HB 1634 will strengthen penalties against the act of strangulation and enable prosecutors to treat instances of this act with the severity they deserve.

The family of domestic violence homicide victim Missy Charbonneau will be present at the bill signing. Missy's father John Cantin testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee that his daughter was strangled by her husband just two days before he shot her to death. Sharing his families story, John highlighted the lethality of strangulation and the need for tougher laws and penalties in the state of New Hampshire.

If you are interested please join us at the bill signing. It will be held at 1:00pm in the Governor Council's Chamber at the statehouse.
