Verizon Foundation awards $10,000 grant for language translation
The Verizon Foundation recently awarded the New Hampshire Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence with a grant for $10,000.
This grant will enable the Coalition's member programs to hire interpreters to provide in person language services to victims. This is the fourth year that Verizon Wireless has provided funding for this service. Advocates and member programs report that this funding has been life altering for many survivors because it allows enhanced access to services. For example, several deaf survivors who previously had been unable to take part in support groups are now doing so with the assistance of American Sign Language Interpretation.
